Lady Gaga has found a new favourite pair of sunglasses and we absolutely love them too!

We all know that Lady Gaga is like Marmite, you either love her or you hate her, but whichever it is surely you can’t help but be intrigued by some of the wacky outfits she comes up with.

While we may love the drama of Lady Gaga’s ever-changing look…it’s a high maintenance and OTT style for us to try to work in everyday life right?  After all, no one is going to be turning up at the WantSunglasses office wearing an outfit quite like this…

Fearne Cotton’s Sunglasses Style…

News just in! Fearne Cotton has been spotted in the sunnies that you’re all going to be wanting to get your hands on this Autumn/Winter season.  Hot on the heels of the announcement that she will be the host of the first ever Teen Awards, which will take place on the 14th November, Fearne Cotton has been showing us all why she is a style starlet that is so in demand.

After hosting her regular Radio 1 show Fearne was snapped on her way to yet another photoshoot and covered up with a stunning velvet coat with fur trim, topping her look off with a super trendy leopard print hat and ‘shape of the moment’ sunglasses.  All the biggest and best designers are getting in on the act when it comes to the new look round sunglasses and we have got some beauties on our site from the likes of Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren and Giorgio Armani.

Mischa Barton, who was recently one of the subjects of Fearne’s ITV2 show, ‘Fearne And…’ has expressed her anger at the way she was portrayed on the show.  The former O.C. actress told OK!:

‘I think Fearne Cotton’s show is a joke and she’s a joke.  I can’t hear Fearne’s name without seeing red.  ‘I wish I hadn’t done it and that’s bad because there are enough misconceptions about me in the press.  She’s got nothing to lose if she makes a more salacious story, she’s only got everything to gain.’

We’ve been browsing the world-wide web and have just come across a run down of some of the most bonkers sunglasses of the moment, none of which we’re sure would look out-of-place on Lady Gaga, but on your average everyday Joe or Jane they would look pretty scary.  We thought we’d share them with you in the spirit of Friday fun courtesy of The Frisky.

Chilean Miners given a helping hand by Oakley Sunglasses…

It is a headline that has captured the world, the 33 Chilean miners trapped underground for 69 days have finally been rescued thanks to a mammoth operation by the Chilean authorities.

Chile’s President has praised the rescue efforts and has declared that his country will never be the same again after this extraordinary event.  President Sebastian Pinera has said that he feels Chile is now “more united and stronger than ever” and “more valued” worldwide.

This can’t be doubted after seeing the ecstatic scenes of the final miner to be rescued, Luis Urzua, emerging into the light and out of the rescue shaft capping off a 22 hour operation.

While they are showing signs of ill heath, not one of the miners is in a serious condition which is amazing seeing as no one has ever survived as long trapped underground.

One of the aspects of the rescue that was vital to their health was the donation of Oakley sunglasses to protect their eyes upon emerging into the light.  Oakley were approached about donating sunglasses and were only too honored to be able to assist in any way that they could.  Oakley provided 35 pairs of Oakley Radar sunglasses that are designed to minimise heavy glare.

The single lens shield is a wraparound style that uses the darkest lens with a grey base and black iridium coating which would serve to help the miners’ eyes adjust to bright light after being dilated so long.  The Oakley Radar sunglasses are typically used for high performance sports and feature an exterior hydrophobic coating that would have prevented water, mud, oil and dust from building up on the surface as the miners were hoisted to freedom.

There is concern for the miners’ sight and the possibility of damage to the retina.  After being in the dark for a long period, the mechanisms by which the retina protects itself from damage from bright light can diminish.

Lets hope that the Oakley Radar Sunglasses were of some help to the miners’ sight, only time will tell.

Philip Schofield wasn’t a fan of the red Ray-Ban Wayfarers!

X Factor uproar!

Even Philip Schofield has been giving his verdict on last weekend’s X Factor and more specifically Nicolo Festa’s performance and sartorial choices.  Speaking on This Morning, Philip said,

“Well I think it was a mistake to put glasses on him. If anyone ever comes here as a guest and has sunglasses on, we try very politely to ask them to take them off, because you don’t get to see their eyes. There is a real barrier there.”

As much as we love the look, there’s a very good point there.  Why put up barriers to the audience when you need them to vote you through the show?  Strange choice in hindsight and probably not one that any more of the contestants will be trying anytime soon.

Kanye West’s Sunglasses Style…

Super cool music mogul Kanye West has been flexing his fashion muscles bit by bit over the last couple of years and has become a regular fixture at the seasonal fashion weeks. Kanye knows how to exercise his fashion credentials to perfection in these bad boy sunglasses from Gucci.  You’ve got to look stylish when you’re an all-rounder like Kanye.  Not content with dominating the music world and forays into designing for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Kanye has directed and starred in a short film to accompany his new album.  This man doesn’t stop

Still, at least he’s got the Gucci sunglasses of the moment to keep him on the ball when it comes to looking good.  The Gucci GG 1627 sunglasses are sexy frames for any man this season.  The acetate frame with the classic Gucci racing stripes add a great twist to the traditional aviator.  It is hard not to be charmed by Kanye West’s mix of dapper style and urban street cred.  It’s a combination that not many people can pull off with such aplomb so hats off to him.

Kylie Minogue’s Sunglasses Style…

We all know about Kylie Minogue The Fashionista.  Loved by Dolce & Gabbana, Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier to name a few, you wouldn’t expect to be able to afford any of Kylie Minogue’s designer accessories.  Well, don’t be too quick to assume.  Here Kylie Minogue is sporting the very affordable Carrera Panamerika sunglasses, all be it with Christian Louboutin boots and an Yves Saint Laurent handbag!

Nicolo Festa’s X Factor Sunglasses Style…

 

 

While us busy bees at the WantSunglasses offices reserve judgement on Nicolo Festa’s X Factor 2010 one and only performance over the weekend, we can unequivocally say that we love Nicolo’s choice of Red Ray-Ban Wayfarers that he was sporting during his rendition of Lady Gaga’s ‘Just Dance’.

Italian born Nicolo Festa was the first X Factor contestant to be ejected from the live finals after polling the lowest number of  public votes.  FYD were also harshly booted off the opening live show as the judges chose to save the wacky Katie Waissel thanks to her rendition of the classic tune ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ by The Beatles.  Just as Nicolo’s sartorial choices were a hot topic in the WantSunglasses offices this morning, Katie’s choice of outfit on Sunday’s show found much more favour than her futuristic, Gaga-esque look we saw on Saturday’s show.  What a difference a night can make.
